“Becoming a leader is synonymous with becoming yourself. It is precisely that simple, and it is also that difficult”
– Warren Bennis
Do not let others dictate your leadership style - become an Authentic Leader
Being a manager in an agile setup is the hardest job. On one side you are still the one responsible for the outcome of what your employees do, and on the other side you might feel that you are losing the control – or at least, losing the illusion of control.
How you act as a manager is extremely important for the success of your organisation. Resent surveys show that up to 96% of the challenges in applying agile approaches is related to what you do or what you could do as a manager. So, success comes down to the managers providing appropriate leadership in an agile organisation.
Unfortunately, we agile coaches in general have until now been very unsuccessful in helping you and your fellow managers learn to do leadership well in an agile context. Typically, patterns are that you either are being told to stay away from the teams, or you have been introduced to some idealised leadership styles and told to adapt your own style to this, otherwise you are doing it wrong. Neither of these approaches are very helpful, are they?
This is NOW changing.
In Better Change we have invested heavily in growing our capabilities in management and leadership development in the past years. We have realised that when managers provide leadership it must feel natural for themselves as well as for those they lead. To support you, we have,. based on our knowledge, built a program named Authentic Leadership.
What you get from the Authentic Leadership:
- A pragmatic and practical approach to become a great leader in an agile context – we are non-idealising and non-dogmatic in our approach
- The possibility to reflect and think out loud about your own situation in a confidential learning environment
- We start with what you are already doing well and grow from there
- Experiencing the latest trends in the science of management development
The program runs for over half a year and is easily adaptable to your daily job as a manager. It runs in a remote setup where you meet with six to eight peers in your cohort for a few hours each month, carefully facilitated by experienced leadership coaches. Between the cohort sessions you will have a little homework for the upcoming session that we expect you to do.
To be honest, you have not experienced something like this before. We have successfully applied this program at our clients the past years. The feedback has been outstanding!
This program prepares you for the Scrum Alliance CAL II – Advanced Education and Validated Practice on all three categories:
- Leadership in an Agile Context
- The Agile Organisation
- Agile Approaches to Change
