Mestring af Agile Coaching

Ikke alle, der anser sig selv for at være Agile-trænere, er certificeret inden for dette område. Det kan skade Agile-trænernes omdømme.

According to the State of Agile Coaching Report 2021 only 19% of people who consider themselves to be Agile Coaches has a master level certification in this area. We do not believe that you blindly can evaluate people’s competences based on their collection of badges, but we think there lies a degree of truth within the numbers. We see it as a potential risk of damaging the reputation of the profession of Agile Coaching when the numbers are as low as indicated.

What does it take to be a master Agile coach?

Well, we think you first of all must have your Agile foundation in order. You must know where Agile comes from; you must live the values and principles; you must know the various frameworks and practices, and you must have the personal experiences of being practicing it yourself for years. You must have had your hands on the hobs for a while and know how it feels and smells.

Another important matter is your awareness of your personal experiences and opinions as not being directly applicable to the context of those you are coaching. Often Agile coaches are contracted for a limited time to help an organisation implement agile approaches. There is no chance you are going to gain a deep insight of the dynamics of the organisation in this short time. You need to rely on the members in the organisation and, in our opinion, you serve them best by enabling them to manage the change. In other words, unlock their potential to succeeding with Agile.

This is where Systemic coaching comes in. Our experience is that the clients of Agile coaches highly benefit from their coach being skilful in professional coaching techniques, as this enables them to take ownership and act during the change. The State of Agile Coaching Report 2022 supports this claim.

Let us help you become a master Agile coach

We have been educating Agile coaches in professional coaching techniques for more than a decade and in our ICAgile Professional Coachning (ICP-ACC) training, we will take you through the fundamentals of Systemic coaching and some of the advanced techniques as well. Most importantly, we will do this by making you practice it throughout this three day training.
We will also address when coaching is not the answer and how you balance between being a pure coach with no agenda for the coachee and an Agile coach having an agenda for the coachee.

The training will also take you through various aspects of being a professional Agile Coach. These include understanding organisational dynamics, how teams develop over time, setting up coaching agreements as well as getting a structure and disciplin into your Agile coaching practices.
